                             Board Meeting,February 21, 2008

 

Members present:

Malcolm Rodman, Dave Stoddard, Dan Augustine,

Tom Straus, Becky Maddox, Jeff Van Horn, Bill Padgett, Nancy-Jane Griffith.

Guests: Barbara Padgett, Beverly Rodman.

 

Tom called the meeting to order at 7.05PM

 

Minutes from the previous meeting:

The minutes from the January 10th 2008 were approved.

 

Treasurer’s report:

Malcolm distributed the operating statement to date.

The treasurer’s report was approved.

 

Board member election:

The board unanimously elected Scott Bailey as a new member.

Welcome, Scott.

 

Cullum concert of March 2 2008:

Malcolm reported that advertisement in X-lent has and will continue for the concert.  The piano has been rented at a cost of $250.00.  Expenses to date have been paid.  Malcolm will present a financial statement at the next board meeting.

 

Becky informed the board that the house hospitality committee was in place.

The board was asked to arrive by 1.00 o’clock with doors opening at 1.30  P.M.

 

Reserved seating will be arranged for members in the Doctor of Jazz category and for parties of 8 or more...

 

Long-term advertisising:

Tom said that  ATJS announcements of concerts and events will appear in multi-group programs, including the Long Center and Paramount Theater, beginning in a few weeks.

 

Corporate Sponsorships:

Bill Padget and Scott Bailey will be working on this project. Tom will send a mission statement on ATJS to help with this endeavor.

 

 

Member Database Update:

There was a discussion on improving the current way to access the data base, and members will be looking into this, and aiding Malcolm with this job.

 

Old Business:

Becky reported that Dr. Chuck Reilly was very appreciative of his plaque and the tribute to him and his family.

 

New Business:

Discussion of next year, bringing in new bands for future concerts. More on this will be discussed at future meetings.

 

Next Board Meeting:

New time and Date.
