Austin Traditional Jazz Society Board Meeting October 11, 2007 5.00 PM

Members Present: Malcolm Rodman, Dan Augustine, Tom Straus, Jeff Van Horn, Becky Maddox, Dave Stoddard, Nancy- Jane Griffith. Guests: Billie Straus, Beverly Rodman, Bill Padgett, Barbara Padgett.
Tom called the meeting to order. The minutes of the August 21, 2007 meeting were approved.
Treasurer Report: Malcolm distributed the operating statement for the year 2007-2008. Malcolm reported that membership payments once again were ahead of last years for this period of time. The Fidelity account has $13,608.46 and the Chase Bank checking account has $5,694.46. A full report is available to any member. Members can contact Malcolm directly for a statement.
Price of admission for students: Tom restated that a $5.00 rate per concert for students with the proper identification had been approved by the board previously and will continue. The discussion arose because Tom received a letter from a music department member at St. Edwards, inquiring about this.
Paramount Theater Opportunity: Tom stated that he had a discussion with Lietza Brass, director of programming for the Paramount. Ms. Brass is interested in ATJS input as to bands and performers that would promote interest in jazz in the Austin area. Tom and Jeff have volunteered to speak with Ms. Brass, to see what her exact needs are and how it will benefit ATJS.
Election of officers: The board elected the following officers for the year 2007-2008 Tom Straus - President Dave Stoddard- Vice President Malcolm Rodman- Treasurer Nancy-Jane Griffith- Recording Secretary
The board unanimously elected Bill Padgett as a director for the year 2007-2008.
Special Concerts: Malcolm distributed a work plan sheet for special concerts and events. In order to have a successful event the following committees need volunteers.
Finance Committee
Fund Raising Committee
Music Committee
House Committee
Publicity Committee
Educational Outreach Committee
New Business: Becky will spearhead the project honoring Chuck Reilly, and is putting together a photo/visual tribute to Chuck. The first set of the January Jam session will pay tribute to Chuck's many years of commitment and service to ATJS and traditional jazz.
